Mosul, Mar 27 (EFE/EPA).-The Al Rabie theater, also known as the Spring theater, in the Iraqi city of Mosul is being rehabilitated by a group of volunteers who work with the hope of seeing it flourish again after 18 years in silence. Built by a Japanese company in 1969, the Al Rabie ("spring" in Arabic) stage hosted for decades Arab and international artists from theater, music, dance and other arts who performed there until the fall of Baghdad in 2003, when the curtain had to be lowered. It was the only breath of fresh air in this city.- Many stars from the Arab and international art scene have danced, acted and performed here, foreign theater companies came with their shows and presented them on this stage.- The theater was built in 1966 by a Japanese company. It was a first class theater, where people sitting at the front could hear and see the same as those sitting at the back.- It stopped in 2003 after the fall of Baghdad or Iraq as we say, that is when it was subject to destruction and ransack by looters.

Actually it was also the central office of the film studios and, of course, the theater where we are now.2.- It was built by a French and Swiss company. The Swiss was in charge of the building part and the French of the technical aspect.3.- In 2003, IT was hit by a coalition airstrike, which caused extensive damage to the sides and roof of the theater.4.- This was followed by acts of looting, pillaging and fires, which damaged many parts of the furniture and technical aspects. These acts hurt much more. Especially that he was abandoned for a long period before rehab began.Tetr5.- The Al Rashid Theater is an international Arab theater that presented shows from France, Germany and the Arab world.6.- The Al Rashid theater was the object of an air attack on its left side, but what affected the rest of the place, which is nine floors, was actually looting, pillaging and burning.7.- The truth is that the authorities evaluated its rehabilitation with several companies, but the costs that were presented were very very high, so it was not approved and was abandoned.
