  • Children with special health needs, disabilities receive COVID-19 vaccine in Sri Lanka

    Colombo, Sep 24 (EFE/EPA).- Sri Lanka began Thursday the COVID-19 vaccination drive for children between 12-19 years old with disabilities, chronic illnesses or co-morbidities.Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines are administered to children under supervision and assessment of consultant paediatrician while the parents or guardians are required to produce all medical records of children and also sign a letter of consent. From among the almost 22 million population, Sri Lanka has successfully vaccinated around 96 percent of its over 20 year’s population with the first dose of any COVID-19 vaccine and 77 percent of the same age group with the second doses. The most vaccinated is Sinopharm vaccines, followed by Astra-Zeneca (Vaxzevria), Moderna, Pfizer and Sputnik V.
