Tehran (Iran), Jan 29 (EFE), (Camera: Marina Villén).- Iran is exploring all ways to achieve an effective Covid-19 vaccine to become a regional producer in the near future. For now, the local candidates are CovIran Barekat, who is in the first phase of clinical trials; and Razi Cov Pars, who has just obtained permission to begin testing in humans; as well as a joint vaccine project with Cuba. SOUNDBITES OF KIANUSH YAHANPUR, HEAD OF PUBLIC RELATIONS, IRAN'S MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND MEDICAL EDUCATION:1. "The determined objective is for Iran to position itself as the hub of vaccine production at least in the Eastern Mediterranean and Western Asia region." 3. "(CovIran Barekat) It is a vaccine with few side effects, is safe and effective and we are very hopeful that next spring we will mass produce it in the country." 4. "The technology which was chosen for the vaccine developed by Cuba and Iran, from the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the Finlay Institute of Cuba, and their clinical studies have been successful in the first and second phases and I can say that, compared to many vaccines produced in the West, 50 miles from Cuba, in the US, this one is safer." 5.
