Refugees at camp in Bosnia continue hunger strike

Description

Vucjak (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Dec. 4 (EFE / EPA).- Hundreds of refugees at a camp in northwestern Bosnia remained on hunger strike Wednesday for a second consecutive day to protest conditions at the makeshift facility, which is without electricity or running water and offers no protection from winter weather.Red Cross vehicles laden with food for the refugees returned to the nearby city of Bihac with their cargo untouched, as the occupants of the Vucjak camp refused to collect their rations. The camp, built on a former landfill and surrounded by minefields dating from the 1992-1995 war, has long been the target of criticism from aid groups and a representative of the Council of Europe called Tuesday for its immediate closure.
