Twelve candidates are in the running to lead this country of some 12 million inhabitants, among the poorest in the world rival its immense natural resources. The 82-year-old Conde's mian opponent is long-time opponent Cellou Dalein Diallo, 68, who was formerly a prime minister under authoritarian leader Lansana Conte.
