Street artist Banksy claims a fifth mural in as many days, this time of two pelicans above a fish and chip shop in Walthamstow, North East London. The pelicans continue the elusive artist’s animal theme – on Monday it was a goat in Kew, South West London; Tuesday, two elephants in Chelsea, West London; Wednesday, three monkeys in Shoreditch, East London; Thursday’s wolf painted onto a satellite dish in Peckham, South East London was quickly stolen. Banksy’s works tend to offer social and political commentary, and this latest spurt of work has sparked speculation among fans about their meaning – and whether the safari of artworks will continue into the weekend… IMAGES

Britain's Labour finance minister Rachel Reeves says that the country's public finances face an additional hole of £22 billion ($28 billion) inherited from the previous Conservative government.
