Two women danced together at the Tango World Cup in Buenos Aires to challenge machismo and traditional gender role expectations.
Gabriela Fernanda Torres, a wheelchair bound professional tango dancer, hit the hardwood stage with her partner Pablo Rafael Pereyra for the qualifying round of the Stage Tango Category in the Tango World Championship in Buenos Aires on Thursday, in what is believed to be a first for the competition. The dancers described this as an opportunity to bring about social change in how people look at wheelchair users in the field of dance. The 2017 Buenos Aires Tango Festival and Dance World Cup finished up on August 23. Buenos Aires is the home of Tango, the dance form originated here in the late 18th century.
The World Tango Festival and Championship was in for a special surprise on Saturday as a pair of disabled dancers joined two pairs of tango champions on the stage. After years of practice and training, Gabriela Torres and Mariano Langasport were putting on the moves in their wheelchairs and dancing together with the best in the tango world as part of a group called "Compania de Danza sin Fronteras", or Dance Company Without Borders.

Depuis la disparition de sa soeur, Jax s'occupe de sa nièce Roki et tente de joindre les deux bouts, dans la réserve de la nation Seneca-Cayuga, en Oklahoma. Au risque de perdre la garde de Jax au profit de son père, Frank, le duo prend la route pour retrouver la mère de Roki, à temps pour le powwow. Ce qui devait être une recherche devient vite une enquête bien plus approfondie des complexités et des contradictions des femmes autochtones à travers le monde colonisé et à la merci d'un système judiciaire défaillant.
