Hong Kong's Crackdown On Dissent Continues

Description

According to a report by Reuters, Hong Kong officials are taking a tough line on perceived national security threats, deploying an elite police unit for political monitoring and surveillance. In the last few months, Hong Kong has banned the National Party, which promotes separation from China, in addition to barring some activists from participating in local elections. Reuters reports that, last month, Hong Kong's Education Bureau sent all secondary schools in the Special Administrative Region letters stating that they must prohibit 'the penetration' of the National Party or face prosecution.
