    AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford got the go-ahead to restart their US coronavirus vaccine trials. The late-stage trial was stopped due to a possible adverse reaction in one of the participants. On September 6 AstraZeneca reported a "suspected serious adverse reaction". According to Business Insider, the reaction occurred in a UK-based participant. The UK resumed clinical trials for AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford vaccines in September. The trials in Japan resumed earlier this month.

  • Pfizer To Begin Covid-19 Vaccine Trial In Children

    Pfizer has plans to start testing its experimental coronavirus vaccine in children as young as 12 years old. According to CNN, parents have already expressed interest in enrolling their kids in the drug trials. It will be the first coronavirus vaccine trial to include children in the United States. A team at Cincinnati Children's Hospital will begin vaccinating teenagers aged 16 and 17 this week. The trial will then expand to enroll 12-to 15-year-olds in the coming weeks and months. The company confirmed it has approval from the US Food and Drug Administration to enroll children as young as 12 in its trial.

  • Thailand's COVID-19 vaccine trial on monkeys provide promising reults, reserchers say

    Bangkok, Jun 22 (EFE/EPA).-Researchers from Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University on Monday held a press conference to update on the progress towards developing an mRNA-type vaccine against coronavirus infections, assuring the initial result of the trial on monkeys is promising and that they will proceed with human trial within this year.The research team in Thailand began running vaccine tests on monkeys on May 23 and second dose is given on June 22, after initial tests on mice proved to be effective. Thailand COVID-19 vaccine program is on track with the planned human trial later on in 2020, said professor Kiat Ruxrungtham, one of the researchers.
