Malian supporters of freed opposition leader Soumaila Cisse wait for his return at Bamako airport after the announcement of his release. Three other hostages, an elderly French aid worker and two Italian captives, are also on a plane from Tessalit (north), where they were freed. All were believed to have been held by jihadists. IMAGES

Radisson Blue hotel siege has been brought to an end by the U.S, French and Mali special forces. According to reports dozens of bodies have been recovered.
At least 170 people have been taken hostages Friday morning at the Radisson Blue hotel in the Mali capital, Bamako. Several gunmen are keeping the hostages in a hotel mainly used by foreign visitors.
