Survivors of Bhopal gas tragedy demand pension raise

Description

Bhopal, Oct 1 (EFE/EPA).- Indian elder people marked World Elders Day Thursday with a protest by those who survived the Bhopal gas tragedy, demanding a raise in their social security pension. The gas leak from a Union Carbide plant in Bhopal in 1984 is said to be world’s worst industrial disaster. Estimates vary on death toll; while government reports more than 2000 of deaths immediately, some estimates say up to 15,000 were killed including those from gas-related diseases.(Camera: SANJEEV GUPTA)SHOT LIST: BHOPAL GAS TRAGEDY SURVIVRORS PROTESTING IN BHOPAL, INDIA.
