A military hospital ship, the 1,000-bed USNS Comfort, docks in New York City as America's coronavirus epicenter prepares to fight the peak of the pandemic that has killed over 2,500 people across the US. The hospital ship USNS Comfort departs New York harbor after providing relief to the city's healthcare system. The 1,000-bed ship, previously deployed to conflict and natural disaster zones, was sent to Manhattan to ease the strain on health centers at the epicenter of America's COVID-19 outbreak. IMAGES

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the death toll from the coronavirus in the state reached 4,159, up from 3,565 the day before. "That is up, and that is the worst news," Cuomo says during a news conference in Albany. "But the number of deaths over the past few days has been dropping for the first time. What is the significance of that? It’s too early to tell." SOUNDBITE
Nurses from the Bronx, including one who tested positive to COVID-19 a few days ago, hold a protest in the borough of Queens in New York, to denounce their working conditions. "The government has abandoned us. Our hospitals have abandoned us," says the President of the New York State Nurses Association during the protest. IMAGES
