COVID-19 worsens situation of almost 2,000 migrants stranded in Panama

Lajas Blancas, Apr 17 (EFE).- Almost 2,000 migrants find themselves stranded in Panama near the border with Colombia, while the COVID-19 pandemic has taken its toll infecting 17 of them.The infected have already been isolated by the authorities and are under treatment.(Camera: CARLOS LEMOS)FOOTAGE SHOWS MIGRANTS IN LAJAS BLANCAS, IN PANAMA, NEAR THE BORDER WITH COLOMBIA.

    The House of Representatives will vote on Monday on a measure to increase stimulus checks. The increase will be for Americans under a certain income level to receive $2,000 in payment. This comes after Trump signed a sweeping coronavirus relief bill into law Sunday evening. That legislation, which was negotiated on a bipartisan basis, provides for $600 in direct payments.
