Italy takes in refugees after reopening border following covid-19

Rome (Italy), 16 July (EFE) - (Camera: Álvaro Padilla).- Italy on Thursday welcomed ten refugees who were in the camp of Moria, on the island of Lesbos, and who travelled to the country along the first humanitarian corridor organised after the closure of the borders as a result of the coronavirus crisis. FOOTAGE OF THE REFUGEES IN THE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY IN SANT'EGIGIO, ROME. INCLUDES STATEMENTS BY ANDREA RICCARDI, FOUNDER OF THE COMMUNITY OF SANT'EGIDIO AND RAZIEH GHOLAMI, A REFUGEETRANSLATIONS: RICCARDI"The help (given to these people) is a way of social integration in Italy, as it has happened to others (previous cases). The welcoming of these 10 refugees today is an encouragement for the other countries of the European Union, in times of confinement, not to forget that there is a forgotten people, who are at the gates of Europe and of which Lesbos is their symbol".GHOLAMI"I am a refugee who came from Greece, where I was for two years, in a refugee camp. The situation for those living in Greece is not good."
