Lebanese ask for immigration visas to Germany amid economic crisis

Description

Beirut (Lebanon), 13 July (EFE/EPA), (Camera: Wael Hamzeh).- A group of Lebanese people demonstrated on Monday in front of the German Embassy in Beirut to request immigration visas from German authorities. Lebanon is suffering its worst economic crisis since the end of the civil war (1975-1990) with an inflation that has reached 17% this year, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), compared to 2.9% last year, which has caused the price of products to rise. Many citizens fear that growing unemployment, poverty, the devaluation of the Lebanese pound and the COVID-19 pandemic, could lead to another violent conflict. We cannot continue to live here. Our children are dying of hunger."2. "Please, dear Merkel, help us, help our children. We need to go to Germany. We will work, we will pay taxes. We don't need any welfare to live, we need to work."3. "Please help us. Please help our children."
