Police officers shot and killed an armed man on Tuesday during a hostage situation at a Amarillo, Texas Walmart store, Reuters reported. Authorities believe the incident was related to a workplace dispute.
A 14-year-old boy armed with a pistol took students and a teacher hostage on August 25 at his school in Philippi, West Virginia.At around 1:30 p.m. authorities responded to a 911 call that a person with a gun was inside Philip Barbour High School. Officers and faculty staff quickly evacuated the building, ushering students to the school’s football field where they were accounted for and sent home by bus. Roughly an hour after the initial 911 call, the unidentified teenage hostage-taker released a teacher and an unspecified number of students. Following further negotiations, the boy was persuaded to put down the gun and surrender. No one was injured in the incident. The teen suspect was taken to hospital for an evaluation before being taken into custody. The local prosecutor says charges will be filed at a later date.
