In a video address at a conference of sports ministers in London, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has called for a boycott of the 2024 Paris games over the possible participation of Russian athletes, says their presence would be a "manifestation of violence." SOUNDBITE
US says sports organizers should ensure that Russian and Belarusian athletes do not represent their countries if they are permitted to compete in a global sporting event. "The use of official state Russian, Belarusian flags, emblems and anthem should be prohibited as well," White House spokesperson, Karine Jean-Pierre, tells reporter in a press conference at the White House. World Athletics president Sebastian Coe lists sanctions applied to the Belarus Athletic Federation over Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which "will take immediate effect and continue for the foreseeable future". SOUNDBITE
