France's Le Pen demands Bridgestone repays French state aid amid closure row

Description

Marine Le Pen, leader of France's far-right party National Rally, calls for Bridgestone to repay the state aid it received from France over the past five years, after the Japanese tyre manufacturer's announcement it is to close its plant in Bethune, northern France. It would lead to the loss of 863 jobs and cause economic havoc in the local community. Le Pen criticises the government's "free trade" policy, which she believes leads to "the unfair competition represented by massive imports of low-cost production". SOUNDBITES
