South Dakota Makes History In Surprising Outcome To Vote Over Legal Weed

South Dakota has voted to legalize both medical and recreational marijuana. According to Business Insider, it's the first time a state has voted to legalize both types of access to cannabis at the same time. Medical marijuana cards will be issued to patients with debilitating, chronic conditions--subject to a healthcare provider's recommendation. Recreational cannabis sales will be taxed at 15%. The proceeds will be used to cover the program's costs and to fund public schools and the state's general fund. Residents of the highly conservative state will be allowed to possess up to 1 ounce of cannabis for recreational use.

New Jersey And South Dakota Vote To Legalize Recreational Marijuana

CNN projects that voters in New Jersey and South Dakota have voted to legalize recreational marijuana. Poll results have not yet been determined in Arizona, Montana, and Mississippi for their legalization efforts.
