Zambia's opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema was on Monday declared winner of a hotly contested presidential election after capturing more than 2.8 million votes. Gambia's electoral commission announces the preliminary results in the country's presidential elections, in which incumbent President Adama Barrow is leading. Barrow, who ousted dictator Yahya Jammeh five years ago, is well ahead of his main challenger Ousainou Darboe in results published in the afternoon by the electoral commission for almost 40 districts, out of 53 nationwide.
