Angolan president, Joao Lourenco, hosts talks in Luanda to discuss the rising tensions in eastern DRC with their neighbours, Rwanda. Several heads of state can be seen arriving, including the President of Burundi and former president of Kenya. Paul Kagame, the Rwandan president was not in attendance, instead Vincent Biruta, minister for foreign affairs represented the country at the summit. Eastern DRC has witnessed fierce fighting in recent months between Congolese troops and the M23 rebel group, prompting the East African Community (EAC) bloc to deploy a joint regional force to quell the violence. Kosovo and Serbia's leaders visit Brussels for talks with their European counterparts on calming tensions, with Aleksandar Vucic, president of Serbia, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti arriving for a meeting with European Council President Charles Michel, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The talks come just days after an European Union envoy, as well as diplomats from the United States, France, Germany and Italy visited both Belgrade and Pristina, for top-level talks over the issue. The Prime ministers of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia meet under tight security measures at the southeastern Czech castle of Lednice for the first face-to-face reunion since the coronavirus pandemic began.
