Russian vehicle manufacturer Avtoros tested a new, specially modified version of its 8x8 Shaman off-road vehicle in Tver Region on Tuesday. The vehicle will be used to greet and collect Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergei Volkov in Kazakhstan after his return from the International Space Station (ISS) in April. Avtoros Sales and Marketing Department Head Evgeni Kolobov explained the modifications made on the vehicle, saying "we've installed an additional radio transmitter in the vehicle – seeing as it will be used in places with no cellular reception. On top of this, we have created additional space for equipment, which is necessary for the cosmonauts collection mission." "We have got a welding and painting workshop. We can completely produce the body and then set it on the vehicle. After that we assemble the interior plastic parts which are also produced right here, as well as the exterior parts," added Kolobov. A second version of the all-terrain vehicle will soon be delivered to London to be featured in the car review show Top Gear.
