The United Nations Security Council demands an immediate end to attacks by Yemen's Huthi rebels on shipping in the Red Sea. The resolution passed "demands that the Huthis immediately cease all such attacks, which impede global commerce and undermine navigational rights and freedoms as well as regional peace and security." Elephant tusks, jewellery, statuettes and a mahjong game: a total of 1.850 tons of ivory were crushed and incinerated in Reims, France on Tuesday. The majority of the ivory was donated by some 90 private individuals, with the rest coming from police seizures. Equivalent to the tusks of some 180 elephants, the initiative was organised by the International Fund for Animal Welfare(IFAW) and France's Office for bio-diversity (OFB)in a bid to show that "ivory only belongs on elephants".
