The EU says it will review the protected status of wolves in Europe and decide on possible changes to introduce flexibility "where it is necessary" based on a data collection exercise. The remarks follow European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warning of the "real danger" of wolf packs in the European Union, and a call for data on wolf numbers and their impact to be submitted by September 22.
