Bremen, Oct 12 (EFE/EPA).- The Antonov AN-124 cargo plane carrying a European Service Module (ESM) for the Orion spacecraft left the German city of Bremen Tuesday and headed to United States' Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The module is the second ESM built by Airbus Defence and Space in Bremen and will serve as propulsion unit and power supply for the first manned mission of the Orion spacecraft. Developed in the UK, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), the concept vehicle functions as a mobile astronomy lab, featuring a world-leading, observatory-class telescope on a bespoke off-road trailer. As the latest embodiment of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the vehicle comes with ProPILOT driver assistance technology, which has been upgraded to make it the most capable pickup for safe and convenient towing. ESA is mapping the stars with unprecedented precision using the Gaia satellite, which has already observed more than a billion stars. The Nissan Navara Dark Sky Concept supports this project by helping astronomers conduct follow-up observations of the universe from hard-to-reach, so-called ""dark sky"" locations - away from the nighttime glow of urban areas, which decreases visibility."
A group of intrepid promoters called BigCityBeats decided to launch a clubbing experience literally into the clouds by holding a zero-gravity rave aboard a special aircraft above Frankfurt on Wednesday. BigCityBeats partnered with the European Space Agency, who lent the Airbus A310 Zero-G aircraft, to throw this one of a kind party. 20 lucky clubbers were selected via an online competition, and travelled from every continent to make the journey.

That's the same site that I rocketed from with my Apollo 11 colleagues, Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins, to achieve the first human landing on the Moon in July 1969! China is headed for several milestone achievements. For one, they will use their new Long March 5 and Long March 7 boosters to advance their goal of building their own space station. In addition, look for China to fly to the moon the robotic Chang'e 5 spacecraft and attempt the first lunar sample return to Earth in more than 40 years. Lastly, look for surprises from mysterious Mars! Now orbiting the Red Planet is the European Space Agency's ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter that in 2017 will "sniff out" whether methane detected on that world is a product of Martian microbes. Personally, I'll be working as hard as ever to rally public and political willpower to hasten the day when those first footfalls on the Red Planet lead to permanent inhabitation of Mars.
