  • Go o the Loo in Style at These Gaudi-Inspired Public Toilets

This fantastic structure, which appears to have been plucked right off the pages of a children's fairy tale story, is not what you think. It's not a playground or an art museum, it's actually a public toilet complex located in the heart of the tourist district of the Chinese city of Chongqing. The city of nearly 50 million inhabitants now boasts one of the world's most creative public lavatories where locals and tourists alike can appreciate the art-studded walls while relieving themselves. Well-traveled art lovers may recognize the resemblance of the complex to Park Guell in Barcelona, designed by the famous Antoni Gaudi. With over 1,000 toilets and urinals all touched up in the eccentric Catalan Modernist style, the same style used to make the world famous Barcelona landmark, a church called the Sagrada Familia. The toilet is also surrounded by trees and has plants growing inside to help minimise the unpleasant smell of the lavatories and to add to the ambience. Chongqings public lavatory complex definitely wins the title of world's coolest public toilet in our books.
