Two days after a shooting took place at a school in Vantaa, north of Finland's capital Helsinki, a police officer takes down the police cordon that had surrounded the school grounds. Finland's former president and Nobel laureate Martti Ahtisaari is laid to rest in a state funeral held in the Nordic country's capital Helsinki. Ahtisaari died at the age of 86 in October after battling Alzheimer's disease. Serving as president from 1994 to 2000, Ahtisaari was also a mediator who negotiated an end to conflicts around the globe, from Indonesia to Kosovo and Namibia.
