A revolution in automotive performance, design and collaboration is revealed with the Pininfarina Battista – the world’s first luxury electric hyper performance GT.Built in Italy, the Battista will be the most powerful Italian-made car of all time. When it arrives in 2020 it will deliver a level of performance that is unachievable today in any road-legal sports car featuring internal combustion engine technology. Faster than a current Formula 1 race car in its 0 -100 km/h sub-two second sprint, and with 1,900 hp and 2,300 Nm torque to hand, Battista will combine extreme engineering and technology in a zero emissions package.2020 also marks the 90th anniversary of the legendary Pininfarina SpA design house, which has taken the design brief for the Battista and produced a classic Pininfarina: an elegant form that seamlessly integrates the car’s innovative engineering solutions that will support unprecedented performance. It is the same design principle of form and function in harmony as seen in classic Pininfarina cars reaching back to the Cisitalia 202 of 1947 and through more than 60 Ferraris, with the latest launched this decade.The Pininfarina Battista’s place in automotive history is defined by its name. The design edition will make its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it will be piloted up the famous hill by former F1 star and hillclimb record holder, Nick Heidfeld. In his role as an advisor to Automobili Pininfarina, ‘Quick Nick’ has played a key role in the Battista story so far. Following the success of the limited-edition Battista Anniversario, the latest model represents the fascinating story of F1 racing legend Nino Farina, the first ever F1 World Champion and nephew of design icon Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina. Fittingly, it will make its dynamic debut just a few hundred metres from the Goodwood Circuit, where Nino drove to victory in the 1951 Goodwood Trophy (a non-championship F1 race).With just five examples to be crafted for clients worldwide, bespoke features adorning the exterior and interior of the Battista Edizione Nino Farina pay tribute to the racing legend born in Torino. Production of Battista, the world’s first pure-electric hyper GT, has begun in a dedicated new Atelier space in Cambiano, Italy. Located in the Piemonte region of Italy, this milestone represents an exciting chapter in the development story of new Italian luxury carmaker Automobili Pininfarina.The award-winning Battista is now being hand-crafted by a team of artisans in the bespoke 2,300 square metre facility, with no more than 150 to be created over its lifecycle.
