South Korea has announced plans to employ a fleet of 85 robot 'volunteers' during the Winter Olympics, including a vacuum bot, robots which provide info on the Games, drinks serving robots, and robot fish swimming in water tanks. Through these robots, South Korea is showcasing its technical prowess and leadership in robotics technology, having sponsored as many as eight companies with almost 1.5 million dollars to develop AI bots specifically for the Pyeongchang games.
A new Chinese car company called Redspace unveiled the innovative REDS prototype model at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show on Wednesday, designed by former BMW Design Chief Chris Bangle. The cubical-shaped car was designed in particular for the gruelling traffic of Chinese megacities, and comes with a 17-inch screen and rotating seats for those bumper to bumper moments. The strange windshield might not be the most aerodynamic, but it's set to offer an excellent view.
Deutsche Bahn (DB) unveiled its innovative project called the "Idea Train" in Nuremberg on Thursday, which aims to make rail transportation as enjoyable. Besides the play area for children and fitness studio with exercise bikes and virtual trainers, the Idea Train also feature a special zone where football lovers never have to miss a game. Special noise-cancelling chairs feature built-in tablets with internet access which give passengers the ability to stay connected without being annoyed by more rowdy riders.
Legendary German automaker Porsche has shown that it's not out of its depth when it comes to making designs to tame the high seas as it unveiled the GTT 115 superyacht in Monte Carlo on Wednesday. The 115 foot superyacht features two V12s paired diesel engines of 1,650-horsepower, and can reach a staggering 21 knots over a range of 3,400 nautical miles. With a price tag starting at $16.71 million, the GTT 115 is being marketed to only the most well-heeled clients.
