This trick is called the seat.We're going to try as best as we can to get into this figure by pulling ourselves up on the pole. To do this we place our strong hand up on the pole but not too high up because the higher up we have to climb, the harder our muscles have to work. We leave a little slack in the gripping arm while keeping the hand tight up on the bar. The other hand should be placed just underneath the top hand. Then we try to pull ourselves up. If at first this is difficult, we'll try to use the ground by pushing off into a little jump. Ideally though we should use our arms to pull ourselves up the pole and immediately lift the legs and cross them as high up as possible on the thighs. This is important because the contact happens just here. We're holding on to the pole with the skin of our thighs as high up as possible. Once we are here, we twist our hip of the bent leg in order to lock the pose. If we sit straight up, we'll slide down. So we lock the pose. Next the objective is to eventually free up the outside arm and then to pass the other shoulder in front of the pole, stretching out both arms. If in the beginning this pose hurts too much, you may wrap the foot of the straight leg around the bottom of the pole to relieve some of the pressure between the thighs. To exit this pose, we'll try to get out of it in an attractive way. We simply straighten one leg, bend the other, and let ourselves slide down. This trick may not be very technical but it can be rather painful in the beginning. Once you master the pose, you will see that it can become very enjoyable. This figure is an intermediate trick called a wrist seat. To get into this figure, we can either start high up if we are already on the pole, or get into it like a "seat". To do this we pull ourselves up on the pole with both hands, we cross our legs, locking your thighs around the pole. Allow your strong hand to descend the pole to the level of your face. Position the other hand just underneath the coccyx because it is going to rest onthis part of the hand between the thumb and index finger. Place your coccyx on top of your hand; bring your other hand down to your face and now we are going to slowly open our legs into a straddle. It's important to bend your knees out to the side as you open your legs because it is more esthetic than doing this movement with straight legs. To finishthe figure, bend your knees, re-cross your legs, and come down from the pole gently with one leg straight and the other leg bent.
