At the 88th Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz is presenting a slew of world premieres in a clear demonstration that the brand with the three-pointed star offers vehicles to suit all needs. First to be unveiled was the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 11.2-9.1 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 256-209 g/km[1]), which augments the successful AMG GT family with another member. Also celebrating its world premiere was the new Mercedes-AMG G 63 (fuel consumption combined: 13.1 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 299 g/km), the new generation of the off-road legend by Mercedes-AMG. Further highlights in Geneva include the extensively redesigned C-Class. The bestseller with the three-pointed star appears with new, even more efficient engines. Also on show for the first time is a pre-production version of the first plug-in diesel hybrid, which is set to feature in both the C-Class and the E-Class. The new Mercedes-AMG C 43 (fuel consumption combined: 9.4-9.1 l/100 km; CO2emissions combined: 214-209 g/km1) guarantees compelling performance. Plus, the presentation of smart EQ fortwo (combined power consumption: 13.0-12,9 kWh/100 km; combined CO2emissions: 0 g/km) and the smart EQ forfour (combined power consumption: 13.2-13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) sees the inventor of the automobile take the next step towards the electrification of its entire model line-up by 2022.

    Mercedes AMG officially unveiled its newest 600 bhp plus AMG GT concept car at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland on Tuesday. The new concept car is the brainchild of AMG top executive Tobias Moers and was created to celebrate Mercedes-AMG's 50th anniversary. The AMG concept features a four-door saloon design and a coupe-like roofline. Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG GT packs a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine with an output of over 600 bhp. The engine is also expected to be paired with AMG's 7-speed transmission. The Mercedes-AMG GT will go head-to-head with a revered list of competition which includes the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, the Porsche Panamera, and the Audi S7. The production version of the car is expected to hit the road in the latter half of 2018.

  • American-Made Hennessey Venom F5 Supercar Unveiled at GIMS

    The $1.6 million Venom F5 hypercar from American carmaker Hennessey made its 'global' debut at the Geneva International Motor Show on Tuesday. The carmaker claims that the F5 Venom is able to reach a top speed of over 300mph, which would make it the world’s fastest production vehicle. The lightweight chassis and carbon fibre bodywork give the F5 a curb weight of just under 3000 pounds, not the lightest supercar around. It remains to be seen whether the Venom F5 can actually deliver on the 300mph promise.

  • McLaren Dedicate $1 Million Hypercar to F1 Icon Ayrton Senna

    The McLaren Senna GTR was unveiled to the public at the Geneva International Motor Show in the Palexpo convention centre on Tuesday. Inspired by Formula 1 icon Ayrton Senna, the $1million supercar is made of lightweight carbon fibre and comes in five colours, including the same yellow and green scheme used by Senna. Each Senna GTR takes over 1,000 hours to produce, which contributes to the eye-watering price tag.

  • Is it a Car? Is it a Plane? The PAL-V Liberty Ushers In the Age of the Jetsons

    A Dutch-made flying car called the PAL-V Liberty aims to offer drivers the complete freedom to choose when to hit the road and when to take to the air. It went on display at the Geneva International Motor Show on Tuesday. The three-wheel vehicle doubles as a gyrocopter, deploying fully-retractable rotors. The PAL V Liberty will use one engine for road driving and a separate one for flying. It's actually certified to fly under the rules of both the EASA in Europe and the FAA in the U.S., and complies with road safety regulations. PAL-V hopes the car will take-off, once it secures full certification in 2019.
