U.S. online ride-hailing service Uber has been banned from operating in New Delhi, amid accusations of rape by a female passenger against one of its drivers. Jillian Kitchener reports.
New Delhi, Oct 2 (EFE/EPA).- Members of the Samajwadi Party in New Delhi held a sit-in Friday to protest against the gang rape of a 19 year old Dalit girl in Uttar Pradesh state.A nineteen year old Dalit girl was allegedly gang raped and tortured in Hathras in Uttar Pradesh state two weeks ago. After it was known that ride-sharing application Uber had double its value to 40 billion USD in just 6 months, the American company has been suspended by a Spanish court. India has also set a ban on the app in New Delhi after a driver allegedly raped a woman last week while other countries are also considering a ban.
