En 2008, Fiat Auto recrute le comédien américain Richard Gere pour promouvoir sa berline familiale compacte de luxe Lancia Delta. Dans ce film de 45 secondes intitulé "Le pouvoir de la différence" ("The power to be different"), Richard Gere mène sa Lancia Delta du centre de Hollywood jusqu'au Potala Palace, ancienne résidence tibétaine du Dalaï Lama qui s'exila en 1959. Suite à la diffusion de ce film, Fiat cru nécessaire de présenter ses excuses publiques aux autorités chinoises.
