A dead Bryde's whale is removed from the Praia do Rosa beach in southern Brazil. The 13-meter male animal was pulled from the water by local government tractors and will be studied by researchers at Santa Catarina State University to determine its death. IMAGES

The Zoo of Copenhagen has released footage of a baby elephant which was born last week in captivity as part of a European breeding program for Asian elephants. The mother is 16 year old Maha Kumari and the fathers name is Fahim. The name and gender of the baby elephant aren't known yet. Calves weight in beetween 70 and 90kg at birth after spending 22 months in their mothers wombs, the longest gestation in the animal kindom.
