In newly released images from its Euclid telescope, the European Space Agency (ESA) has offered a glimpse of never-seen-before distant galaxies.
The European Space Agency's Euclid space telescope was launched for a six-year mission to shed light on dark energy and dark matter and chart the largest-ever map of the universe.
The European Space Agency's JUICE space probe successfully launched on a mission to discover whether Jupiter's icy moons are capable of hosting extraterrestrial life in their vast, hidden oceans. The rocket was launched from Europe's spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana and its trajectory is "nominal", i.e. in line with what is expected, according to the teams on site. IMAGES
Europe's new Vega C rocket, which was due to make its first commercial flight with two Airbus satellites on board, was lost after lift-off from Kourou, a failure that inflicts a new setback on Europe's weakened space programme. IMAGES
The James Webb Space Telescope releases a new wave of cosmic images, heralding a new era of astronomy. They reveal details about the atmosphere of a faraway gas planet, a "stellar nursery" where stars form, a "quintet" of galaxies locked in a dance of close encounters, and the cloud of gas around a dying star.
