Bangkok, Jul 14 (EFE/EPA).- The 41st edition of the Bangkok International Motor Show will open its doors to the public on Wednesday. The event, one of the largest in Asia, will feature over 40 exhibitors showcasing both new models for purchase as well as concept cars and innovative electric-powered vehicles.Carmakers to represent at the Impact Muang Thong Thani convention center, just north of Bangkok, include Mercedes-Benz, Ford, BMW, Mazda, Hyundai, and Suzuki, as well as luxury brands such as Jaguar, Rolls Royce and Aston Martin, among many others.The show also features the latest two-wheelers to hit the market, with Harley Davidson, Ducati and Yamaha among the best known motorbike brands on display.The show runs from July 15 to 26. The McLaren Senna GTR was unveiled to the public at the Geneva International Motor Show in the Palexpo convention centre on Tuesday. Inspired by Formula 1 icon Ayrton Senna, the $1million supercar is made of lightweight carbon fibre and comes in five colours, including the same yellow and green scheme used by Senna. Each Senna GTR takes over 1,000 hours to produce, which contributes to the eye-watering price tag.
This bright yellow speed demon is called the Jet Bus, and it's probably the fastest school bus ever built, all thanks to a powerful jet engine. Created by the Gerd Habermann Racing Group, the jet bus is propelled by a kerosene-powered Westinghouse J34 turbine, which generates an astonishing 25,000 horsepower. It went on display at the 2017 Essen Motor Show in Germany this weekend.
As if rolling out off the screen of a 1930s gangster movie, this retro coupe all but stole the show at the Geneva International Motor Show on Tuesday. With a bulging back end, large circular headlights, and sweeping front fenders, this is the Eadon Green Black Cuillin coupe. British automaker Eadon Green is fresh on the scene with its collection of retro-style boutique sports cars. The Black Cuillin is an elegant coupe that is inspired by the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900, a vehicle popular in the height of the 1930s. However, don't be fooled by the vintage exterior. The manufacturer claims that the 6.0 liter V12 engine can power the Black Cuillin to reach a top speed of 170 miles per hour. Further, the interior has all the modern amenities that we have come to expect from top of the line sports vehicles today. In case you're wondering about the name, the Black Cuillin is actually named after a mountain range on the isle of Skye, located off the coast of Scottland.
Mercedes AMG officially unveiled its newest 600 bhp plus AMG GT concept car at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland on Tuesday. The new concept car is the brainchild of AMG top executive Tobias Moers and was created to celebrate Mercedes-AMG's 50th anniversary. The AMG concept features a four-door saloon design and a coupe-like roofline. Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG GT packs a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine with an output of over 600 bhp. The engine is also expected to be paired with AMG's 7-speed transmission. The Mercedes-AMG GT will go head-to-head with a revered list of competition which includes the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, the Porsche Panamera, and the Audi S7. The production version of the car is expected to hit the road in the latter half of 2018.
