2021 Nissan Qashqai Highlights

Description

Clear the stage for the new Nissan Qashqai: The third generation of the crossover pioneer is now on the road. The new edition combines a sharpened design with a networked, upgraded interior, new technologies and features as well as an electrified drive - ingredients that guarantee maximum driving pleasure in almost every situation. The basis for this fine-tuning is provided by the CMF-C platform, which gives developers, designers and engineers additional freedom - optically and technically alike. As a result, the architecture raises the quality and the driving experience to a level that is generally only expected in higher vehicle classes. Around a decade and a half after the original was launched, the Qashqai is once again setting standards and taking account of progress and change in the automotive industry.Packed in the design language that was unchanged in the European design studio in London, the flagship scores with a sporty, elegant look. The Qashqai, which is almost 4.43 meters (+35 mm) long, looks sharper, more modern and more well-trained. While an enlarged Nissan V-Motion radiator grille with a chrome finish and flanking full-LED matrix headlights characterizes the face, the striking shoulder line, the 19 millimeter longer wheelbase and the up to 20-inch alloy wheels catch the eye when viewed from the side.

  • Euro NCAP’s Top Performers of 2021

Euro NCAP tested 33 new cars in 2021, of which 22 achieved the top 5-star rating. Among the successes, the Mercedes-EQ EQS emerged as best in the “Executive Car” and “Pure Electric” categories, narrowly beating runner-up the Polestar 2. In the “Small Off-Road” category, the winner is the Nissan Qashqai with an outstanding performance in active safety. The award in the “Large-Off Road” category goes to Škoda’s first all- electric SUV, the Enyaq iV. The Toyota Yaris Cross took the top spot in the “Small MPV” category and the Škoda Fabia was the best “Small Family Car”.The Euro NCAP Best-in-Class award is given to those cars which perform best overall in categories with at least three entrants that year. Winners must have achieved a five-star rating and must have no critical body region coloured red in the full-scale tests.

  • Nissan Qashqai - Crash & Safety Tests - 2021

The all-new Nissan Qashqai has been awarded the top five-star safety rating by the independent European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), a particularly notable achievement given the vehicle was assessed under the new, more stringent 2020-2022 protocol.Euro NCAP scored the new Qashqai 91% for both adult and child occupant protection, placing it among the best of its competitive group. This exceptional performance reflects the advanced reinforced structure of the new Qashqai’s CMF-C platform, built with ultra-high-strength steel in key areas to improve rigidity while allowing the force of an impact to be absorbed and reduced before reaching the passenger safety cell. The addition of a central airbag – a first for Nissan in Europe - to prevent the collision of heads between the driver and front seat passenger in the event of a side impact helped Qashqai to score a maximum 16 points in the lateral impact test.

  • All new Nissan Qashqai highlights

Underpinning the all-new Nissan Qashqai is the new Alliance CMF-C platform, which has allowed Nissan’s product-planners, designers and engineers to create a vehicle which succeeds in reconciling the challenging customer demands in terms of design, spaciousness, dynamics and carbon footprint. The CMF-C platform is a completely new architecture, designed and developed to ensure the vehicles it carries are competitive, offering the driving and ownership experience that customers will need in a time of dramatic progress in the automotive industry. In terms of driving dynamics, one of the most significant factors in the dynamic performance is the overall increase of stiffness in the new Qashqai’s body in white – with a 48% improvement compared to the outgoing model. With a more rigid basis, Nissan’s engineers have been able to more precisely tune the suspension spring and damper rates, knowing they are reacting to the changes in surfaces – not the movements of the platform. This increases precision, response and reduces vibrations.Despites its overall increase in stiffness, the bodyshell is over 60kg lighter which contributes to the new Qashqai’s overall efficiency, while also reducing inertia when driving, so drivers will feel the improvement in agility. There are two rear suspension configurations, with a torsion beam being the configuration for two-wheel drive Qashqai on 19-inch wheels or below. The torsion beam has been upgraded from the outgoing Qashqai, with a new upper body insulator which increases local body stiffness and reduces the transmission of vibrations to the passenger compartment. And the addition of an uprated bump stop, which helps to infuse the rear suspension with a more supple motion and protection from shocks. To maximise the effectiveness of the dampers, their orientation has been changed to a more vertical position which reduces friction and therefore optimises their performance, ensuring better bump absorption and a smoother ride, as well as providing better roll control.
