Paris, Jul 14 (EFE/EPA).- (Camera: Christophe Petit-Tesson) Bastille Day, the French National Day, is held annually on 14 July to commemorate the storming of the Bastille fortress in 1789 and is celebrated with a military parade. This year Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg, which took in French COVID-19 patients, are special guests of honour. FOOTAGE OF THE MILITARY PARADE.

Traffic reduced to the bare essentials and just a few passers-by on the streets: Paris's Place de la Bastille, usually bustling with traffic and pedestrians, is almost deserted on the 24th day of a nationwide confinement that will be extended beyond its current limit of April 15. IMAGES
On the 20th day of confinement, Paris's Place de la Bastille is bathed in sunshine. Walkers and joggers take advantage of the good weather while the first daisies make an appearance. IMAGES
