The first fully electric SUV from Volkswagen. Volkswagen’s electric offensive continues to pick up pace: following the ID.3, the ID.4 is the second model to be built based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) and is the brand’s first ever fully electric SUV. It transports this cleaner form of mobility out into the mountains and forests and demonstrates one of the company’s biggest strengths: the development of modern electric vehicles that bring together price, performance and sustainability for customers.A milestone in the electric offensive. The ID.4 will be launched into the world’s largest market segment, the compact SUV class. It will be produced and sold in China, the US and Europe and marks a strategic milestone in the Group’s electric offensive. Volkswagen plans to launch up to 75 fully electric models by 2029 and to sell around 26 million electric vehicles in this period. An entire ecosystem of sustainable electric mobility will be established around these cars. ID.401 customers will receive a vehicle that has been produced with a carbon-neutral balance. And if it is charged using sustainably produced electricity – like Volkswagen Naturstrom – it will remain carbon-neutral on the road too.
Volkswagen’s GTX brand stands for the sporty top-of-the-line models of the ID. family. The ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX models with dual-motor all-wheel drive – presented just last year – will now be equipped with even more comprehensive standard equipment to emphasise this claim. In addition, they provide a glimpse of the look of other GTX models with new design accents in black and red. In future, every ID. series will have its own GTX model. The ID.4 GTX from 53,255 euros and ID.5 GTX from 56,455 euros are already available for order.Volkswagen has further enhanced the sporty GTX models. The previously optional equipment packages known as Design and Comfort have become standard equipment. They include a climate comfort windscreen, darkened side and rear windows, heated front seats, two USB-C interfaces, a variable centre console, the Air Care Climatronic air-conditioning system with active combination filter, stationary air conditioning and two-zone temperature control.
Volkswagen has completed its inaugural entry in the Rebelle Rally, with driver Mercedes Lilienthal and navigator Emily Winslow running the modified Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro electric SUV through eight grueling days of off-road competition in the deserts of Nevada and California.The Rebelle Rally, now in its sixth year, is the first all-women rally raid event of its kind in the United States, challenging teams and vehicles across 1,400 miles through the deserts of Nevada and California. Pairs of drivers and navigators use their skills, including traditional map and compass navigation and limited supplies, to overcome challenges along the course from Las Vegas to the Imperial Sand Dunes in California, along trails that respect the desert environment.Lilienthal and Winslow competed in the ID.4 AWD Pro in the X-Cross category. Tanner Foust Racing and Rhys Millen Racing modified the vehicle with new suspension components, tubular control arms, fabricated skid plates, battery protection and other items to fully equip the vehicle for the driving expedition.
