Planning new routes is a great way to keep your riding fresh and discovering new trails. Garmin Connect software is a superb tool for route planning, offering several ways to easily map out a ride and upload it quickly to your head unit. A key feature is Garmin's Popularity Routing, which provides a very useful insight into the area that you want to ride in, highlighting trails with colour-coding to show their popularity from all the data that has been uploaded by other riders. This is both an effective way to discover new trails/routes and also a means to be confident of getting a decent route. This video also takes a brief look at Garmin's latest Edge 1030 Plus head unit, with many new features making it undeniably a market leading product.
