Škoda Auto presents the second generation of the Kodiaq, taking sustainability, spaciousness and safety to a new level. The Czech car manufacturer’s SUV flagship has seen its dimensions increased once again and now features the first elements of the Modern Solid design language. The all-new Kodiaq comes with state-of-the-art infotainment systems, including an optional 13-inch screen and a head‑up display. Innovative Škoda Smart Dials with haptic controls and a 10-inch Virtual Cockpit come as standard. The voice control system will from mid-2024 onwards become even more advanced with the integration of the AI-based chatbot ChatGPT. Škoda’s large SUV also adopts a new interior concept based on Design Selections. The five powertrains offer outputs from 110 kW (150 hp) to 150 kW (204 hp) and are always mated to a DSG automatic transmission. The powertrain line-up now also includes a plug in hybrid version with an electric range of more than 100 kilometres and an entry-level mild-hybrid powertrain. The two top engines are combined with all-wheel drive as standard. Also making their debuts are the latest generations of the LED Matrix beam headlights with a significantly higher light output and the Dynamic Chassis Control system (DCC Plus).

CODE at Auto China 2024 in Beijing, Volkswagen is providing a first glimpse of a completely new SUV generation, a new design language for China and a new technology generation. The concept car was developed specifically for Volkswagen customers in China. With the ID. CODE, Volkswagen is interpreting SUV design in a completely new way and enriching it with fascinatingly superior dynamics in the age of electric mobility. With its powerful, clear and fluid surfaces, the ID. CODE comes across more like a Gran Turismo than a five-metre class SUV. The exterior is also a projection surface for the next generation of AI-assisted lighting and display systems – intuitively usable interfaces for intelligent communication between man and machine. The newly designed living space on board the ID. CODE fits perfectly into this picture – here, the real and virtual worlds combine to create a new mobility experience. The electrically powered concept car can be driven conventionally and also used autonomously at Level 4. The ID. CODE offers a more fascinating experience than ever before – it interacts with the driver, passengers and surroundings so that life with this Volkswagen becomes a completely new automotive adventure.
The Urus SE offers an unparalleled driving experience also thanks to the plug-in hybrid system, which helps to improve the vehicle’s performance and dynamics on any surface and in any condition: more torque and power at any rpm is provided by way of innovative technical solutions such as the introduction of the electric torque vectoring system between the two axles, and the electronic rear differential.The twin-turbo 4.0 V8 engine has been re-engineered to work in optimal synergy with the electric powertrain. It develops 620 CV of power (456 kW) and 800 Nm of driving torque; the combustion unit is combined with an electric powertrain delivering 192 CV (141 kW) and 483 Nm of torque. In delivering maximum output the main focus has been on the calibration strategy between ICE and e-motor, reaching a total output of 800 CV to ensure an optimal power curve in every driving mode and on every surface. A 25.9-kWh lithium-ion battery is situated below the load floor and above the electronically-controlled rear differential.The permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor located inside the 8-speed automatic transmission can act as a boost for the V8 combustion engine but also as a traction element, making the Urus SE a 100% electric 4WD vehicle capable of traveling more than 60 km in EV mode.Debuting on the Urus SE is the new centrally-located longitudinal electric torque vectoring system with an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch, which distributes driving torque variably and continuously between the front and rear axles. The transfer case works in synergy with the new electronic limited-slip differential installed on the rear axle, giving the vehicle “on demand” oversteering to convey the feel of a purebred super sports car.
