These days, it's generally assumed that with young, newlywed couples, both spouses will continue to work--at least until children come along. But according to Business Insider, some couples are questioning the received wisdom of combining finances as soon as the wedding cake has been cut. For one thing, couples may have different savings goals, and different levels of debt. Being in charge of your own debt only keeps you in control, and also stops you from feeling resentful if your partner runs up his or her own credit card.
