Bogor, Feb 4 (EFE/EPA).- The newest addition to Indonesia's Taman Safari conservation agency in West Java province's town of Bogor, a baby white rhinoceros, made her public debut Thursday. The baby white rhino, born on October 26, 2020, was named Azsyifa.Taman Safari conservation agency is home to five white rhinos, one of the critically endangered animals. Democrat Sarah McBride has won the race for her state’s first Senate district. This means she will become the first openly transgender state senator in US history. McBride earned herself something of a national profile when she addressed the DNC in 2016. In her speech, she celebrated the chance to elect LGBT+ candidates across the country. McBride’s district is a solidly Democratic one, while Delaware at large is a reliably Democratic state. She joins several other trans leaders at a federal, national, and state level.
President Donald Trump's fourth Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, is not winning any popularity contests among the president's aides. In a jaw-dropping exchange Sunday with CNN's Jake Tapper, Meadows said bluntly, 'We are not going to control the pandemic.' A Trump campaign adviser said there is widespread frustration over Meadows' comments, as well as his leadership more broadly. Sources say Trump remains displeased with how Meadows handled the crisis surrounding his own bout with coronavirus. Early in the crisis, Meadows came to view the White House coronavirus task force, led by Vice President Mike Pence, as largely irrelevant. He has not intervened as Dr. Scott Atlas, a radiologist with no experience in public health, undermines health experts and poo-poos mask-wearing. Besides downplaying the pandemic, Meadows has encouraged Trump to carry on his large-scale rallies, despite a nationwide surge in cases.
After much ado about mutable microphones and plexiglass shields, President Donald Trump will face opponent Joe Biden on Thursday. CNN reports Trump needs to not just perform well at the presidential debate, he'll need to pull a rabbit out of the hat to swing the race his way. The president trails Biden in both national polls and key swing states that will determine whether he has a path to victory in the Electoral College. Both candidates need to improve their standing with certain groups, though. Biden needs more Hispanic voters, and Trump is struggling to get White suburban women. Biden has been laying low recently, preparing for the event. Trump, meanwhile has been barnstorming across the country in full gripe-and-moan mode. The president spends his rallies insulting scientists and refusing any responsibility for the pandemic, which has created a huge drag on his poll numbers.
