Barcelona, Jun 9 (EFE).- The Spanish union of street sellers, known as “manteros” due to the blanket (manta) they set down their typically counterfeit goods on, has launched its own brand of trainers.The sales of these new trainers will contribute to support the street selling communities, mostly comprised of African migrants in precarious conditions, to find stability for themselves and their families. The Agnelli family, owners of Italian icons Ferrari and Juventus football club, has bought a 24 percent stake in French high-fashion brand Christian Louboutin, famous for its red-soled footwear. According to a joint statement, the 541 million euro ($642 million) investment is being made via the Agnelli's Exor holding company and will give them two seats out of seven on the board. Pierre Cardin has died. According to CNN, France's Fine Arts Academy announced the sad news on Tuesday. The legendary French fashion designer was also a success on the business side of fashion. Cardin became a popular household name with designs including clothing, perfume, and even frying pans. His breakout creation was the bubble dress designed in 1954. Cardin was 98 years old.
Rihanna's lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty, is reportedly seeking to raise $100 million in funding. The New York Times' DealBook newsletter reports that the financing may be used to expand in Europe. According to Business Insider Savage X Fenty may launch a new line of athletic wear. Launched in May 2018, Savage X Fenty generates roughly $150 million in revenue, according to the Times. In February, however, the company was the subject of a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission over its advertising practices.
Japanese designer Kenzo Takada died in Paris on Sunday due to COVID-19-related complications. He was 81. Famous for his international luxury fashion house Kenzo, he inaugurated his flagship store in Paris' Place des Victoires in 1976. A native of Himeji, Japan, over the next thirty years, Takada launched a perfume empire, and, in 1993, sold his brand to luxury conglomerate LVMH.
