TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) will compete in 2024 with the updated version of its Dakar-winning vehicle, now known as the GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U, a name that reflects both the vehicle's improvements and the new W2RC categorization.The team will participate with five vehicles in the Dakar 2024, including two new drivers, who will face the toughest automobile test in the world. It will be the largest team that TGR has entered to date in the iconic Dakar Rally, combining the unrivaled experience of drivers like Giniel de Villiers with the good pace of Lucas Moraes and Seth Quintero. Additionally, the team has also confirmed that both Lucas and Seth, along with their co-drivers, will compete in the 2024 FIA World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) season.Dakar 2024 will be the first round of W2RC 2024, and as such will be a pivotal rally for the two confirmed TGR crews in W2RC: Lucas Moraes and Armand Monleon, and Seth Quintero and Dennis Zenz.

The passenger compartment of the Korando remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy readings indicated good protection of theknees and femurs for both driver and passenger. SsangYong showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants ofdifferent sizes and to those sitting in different positions. For the rear dummy, readings indicated a drop in the iliac force, indicating that the pelvis had slipped underneath the lapsection of the seatbelt, a phenomenon known as 'submarining'. Although dummy readings did not indicate a high risk of injury, the car waspenalised and protection of the pelvis rated as poor. in the side barrier test, protection of all critical body areas was good and the Korandoscored maximum points. In the more severe side pole impact, dummy readings of rib deflection indicated marginal protection of the chest,while that of other critical body areas was good. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection againstwhiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated marginal whiplash protection. Thestandard-fit autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system scored maximum points in tests of its functionality at the low speeds at whichmany whiplash injuries occur, with car-to-car collisions avoided in all test scenarios.
