Sports car lovers can look forward to even greater performance and a sportier design, as New Renault MÉGANE R.S. TROPHY boosts the Renault Sport line-up by extending the family of Trophy versions deployed since the first generation of Mégane R.S. New MÉGANE R.S. TROPHY comes with a brand-new version of the 1.8-litre turbo engine, delivering increased power output of 300hp and torque of 420Nm1, largely thanks to the use of pioneering technologies, especially for the turbocharger and exhaust system. This engine can be combined with a manual or EDC dual-clutch gearbox. Featuring Renault Sport's latest innovations in chassis and suspension systems, including the 4CONTROL four-wheel steering system and four hydraulic bump stop shock absorbers, New MÉGANE R.S. TROPHY also comes as standard with the Cup chassis, which boasts stiffer suspension and a Torsen mechanical limited slip differential. This version is equally enhanced by bi-material front brake discs, specific 19-inch wheels and very high performance Bridgestone tyres, which can be paired with new, exclusive lighter wheels. And for the best possible feeling in the car, New MÉGANE R.S. TROPHY can be fitted with a new generation of Recaro front seats, covered with Alcantara® upholstery.
Over the last 15 years, the Megane-based Renault Sport versions have set the hot hatch standard for ultimate performance and driving thrills. In that time the most radical versions of the Megane RS have successively beaten the front-wheel drive production car lap record for the hugely challenging Nürburgring, a circuit that's recognised around the world as the ultimate proving ground for a car's performance.The New Renault Megane RS Trophy-R is no exception, setting a new record of 7 minutes 40.1 seconds around the tortuous track famously known as the 'Green Hell'. Yet unlike competitors that simply focus on delivering ever higher power outputs, the engineers at Renault Sport have concentrated on three distinct performance pillars: weight reduction, the maximisation of aerodynamic efficiency and more radical suspension systems. This approach is a Renault Sport trademark, an approach that priorities speed through the corners rather than outright performance in a straight line.Featuring an impressive weight reduction of 130kg, a totally redesigned suspension set-up and modified aerodynamics the New Megane RS Trophy-R is the most extreme Renault Sport model yet. It also boasts some innovations that are normally the preserve of high end supercars, such as the optional carbon ceramic brakes and carbon fibre wheels. And in its pursuit of undiluted driving pleasure it removes items such as the rear seats, while the composite Sabelt seats can be ordered with six-point racing harnesses - this is a car that puts the driver front and centre.

The MÉGANE R.S. TROPHY-R set a new record of 2’25’’454 (more than 3s better than the previous record) on the prestigious Suzuka circuit in Japan, after its against-the-clock reference time on the famous Nordschleife at Nürburgring and its record at Spa-Francorchamps as part of R.S. Days, broadcast live on YouTube and Facebook. It is a major success in this country, which has some 10,000 TROPHY-R and Renault Sport fans: at the end of September 2019, Japan was Renault Sport's leading world market for the R.S. range, ahead of Germany and France, and the third for Mégane R.S., even though the Trophy version has not yet been launched there.
