Auto-makers say the U.S. could be on the verge of a self-driving car revolution, if only the country's road system and infrastructure was able to keep up. Nathan Frandino has more.
BMW presented a level five autonomous driving car at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Monday, a car that would allow its driver to completely take his or her mind off the road, enabling the driver to eat, watch a movie, or even sleep behind the wheel. However, the level five autonomous car still has a way to go before being realised. In the meantime, BMW expects to get level 3 autonomous vehicles called iNEXT on the road by 2021.
Witnesses could not help but admire the determination of paramedics in Russia’s Komi Republic on Saturday, January 6 as they saw what they thought were paramedics desperately trying to attend a call out, despite their ambulance losing a rear wheel along the way. Fortunately, as clarified by the Komi Republic’s Ministry of Health, another ambulance (presumably with all four wheels in place) was able to attend the emergency.
Lyft, an American ride-hailing service, announced on Monday that General Motors has invested $500 million in the company, and the companies together plan to develop a network of autonomous vehicles.
