This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy)—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden & Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them. Rob Marshall, the talented filmmaker behind the Academy Award®-winning musical “Chicago” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” helms the film, which is based on the Tony®-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics. When Eileen Margaret Elmes was given a box of Pascall's Little Red Riding Hood Chocolate Novelties as a Christmas present more than 100 years ago, she simply could not bring herself to eat them. Elmes kept her nursery-rhyme themed box with her until she passed away at the age of 99 in 2007, and the box then made its way to Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers, where it was revealed to the public for the first time in nearly the same condition as a century ago. Inside sit four chocolate figures on a bed of shredded paper, including Little Red Riding Hood, a baby in a cradle, a man in a blue sailor suit and a lady in a summer dress.
