Toyota Yaris hatchback review - Carbuyer

Description

The original Toyota Yaris was distinctive and fun, with plenty of space inside for passengers. The latest model is a solid and dependable car with a lot going for it - including plenty of space and standard equipment, but does it have what it takes to stand up to the competition? The Yaris comes with a range of frugal petrol and diesel engines, as well as an efficient hybrid, and is available with a choice of three or five doors.

  • New Toyota Prius review: we test the 'love it or hate it' hybrid

We may not have been big fans of the Prius before, but we are now. There’s lots to admire in the engineering and technology, if not the look of the car. And it’s hard not to be swayed by the numbers – it’s not cheap to buy, but it will be cheap to run. It’s comfortable, refined and easy to live with – and more than just a cabbies’ favourite now.

  • Toyota RAV4 SUV 2016 review - Carbuyer

The Toyota RAV4 is known for being reliable, spacious, practical, but also a little dull. Toyota has given it a refresh with a new look up front, some tweaked lights at the rear and a couple of updates to the engines and trim levels. You can get the RAV4 with a 2.0-litre D-4D diesel engine, a 2.0-litre petrol engine or a 2.5-litre V6 petrol mated to an electric motor - the RAV4 Hybrid. In this review we're testing the RAV4 2.0 D-4D with a six-sped manual gearbox to see if the changes make it competitive with the latest raft of family SUVs.

  • DS 5 hatchback review - Carbuyer (Citroen DS5)

The DS has detached itself from Citroen, and the DS 5 is its most luxurious flagship model. There's not a Citroen badge in sight thanks to the new DS family grille, while there's a choice of petrol and diesel engines, as well as a four-wheel drive hybrid model available. The DS 5 occupies a unique niche of its own, aiming to steal sales from traditional family hatchbacks like the Ford Mondeo and VW Passat, while offering the premium feel of more established compact executive cars like the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. All of this comes wrapped up in a stylish, high-riding package with a distinctive and surprisingly spacious interior.
