Tehran (Iran), Jan 29 (EFE), (Camera: Marina Villén).- Iran is exploring all ways to achieve an effective Covid-19 vaccine to become a regional producer in the near future.For now, the local candidates are CovIran Barekat, who is in the first phase of clinical trials; and Razi Cov Pars, who has just obtained permission to begin testing in humans; as well as a joint vaccine project with Cuba. "It was not clear which strategy could ultimately lead to an effective and safe vaccine against COVID-19, so practically no opportunity was lost and any route or platform existed in the country was explored." 2. "The determined objective is for Iran to position itself as the hub of vaccine production at least in the Eastern Mediterranean and Western Asia region." 3. "(CovIran Barekat) It is a vaccine with few side effects, is safe and effective and we are very hopeful that next spring we will mass produce it in the country." 4. "The technology which was chosen for the vaccine developed by Cuba and Iran, from the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the Finlay Institute of Cuba, and their clinical studies have been successful in the first and second phases and I can say that, compared to many vaccines produced in the West, 50 miles from Cuba, in the US, this one is safer." 5. "We expect that from the beginning of summer we will no longer need foreign ones and, in practice, we will fully advance vaccination with the Iranian vaccine until its completion."
US surgeon general Jerome Adams was cited for being in a closed Hawaii park in August. The park in a rural area offers a picturesque view of Mokolii island, known as Chinaman’s Hat for its cone shape. According to HuffPost, Adams was in the islands helping with surge testing amid a spike in coronavirus cases. At the time, Oahu parks were closed by Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell in an attempt to prevent crowds from gathering and flatten the curve of COVID-19's spread. Court records show a remote hearing for Adams is scheduled for Oct. 21st, 2020.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak arrives to give evidence at Britain's Covid-19 inquiry. During the pandemic he was Britain's Finance Minister, and has faced criticism for his implementation of a scheme called 'Eat Out To Help Out'. Designed to revive demand for restaurants after they were closed in Covid lockdowns, the scheme has been criticised for potentially helping spread the disease, with senior scientists saying they weren't consulted. Boris Johnson leaves a public inquiry into his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic after attending the first of two gruelling days in the witness box. The former British prime minister apologised for "the pain and the loss and the suffering" caused by the pandemic but defended his government.
